Research looks into what makes a high quality solar panel
The photovoltaics used in solar panel technology are subject to a number of environmental factors. These factors tend to influence the degradation of a panel as it is highly sensitive technology.
Extensive research has been undertaken to collect field data in the degradation rates of solar panels and what the causes are.
To collect and understand this data, three important factors have to be considered;
- The sun’s intensity
- The angle of light
- The spectral composition
As a result, research was conducted over a 5 year period and was then published in the Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy.
Due to the complex nature of this research, more data collection is planned in the coming years.
