Our vision is for the UK Education Sector to be at the forefront of global energy challenges, leading through collaboration and leveraging expertise to secure a sustainable energy future
TEC’s risk management service is delivered by an expert team who have significant experience in flexible energy purchasing. Our innovative flexible energy approach spreads multiple purchases across the wholesale market. This enables us to risk manage our member’s energy positions beyond the constraint of standard supply agreements.
We work in partnership with our Water, Wastewater and Ancillary Services framework partner Wave. The Framework covers all aspects of water supply and management for our members as well as wider public sector organisations.
The Framework provides members access to a direct-award – a simplified and fast switching route to market, with defined quality standards supported by robust KPIs. Managed by our in-house water specialist, we focus on helping members to understand their water usage, driving down consumption, spend and carbon.
TEC’s Energy Bureau services provide Members with expert energy management solutions to optimise energy use and reduce costs. Our specialised team offers a range of services, including bill validation, contract management, energy and performance monitoring, data storage, compliance and energy efficiency reporting. By outsourcing these tasks to TEC, Members can save time and resources while ensuring their energy operations run smoothly and efficiently. TEC do not charge additionally for this service, it is already part of your membership and fees under our Scale of Charges.
TEC provides all members a service known as ORBIT. This service provides a fully split out budget, that is refreshed daily. The budget is based upon your financial year and is broken down by month and can be grouped from full portfolio or down to individual supply level, for the entire risk managed period.
TEC provides access to a range of performance reporting and budgeting tools through ORBIT. This tool not only takes account of the moving commodity cost element of your bill but also the increasingly unpredictable non-commodity costs.
Our traders keep members informed about market movements, risk management strategy and trading decisions. In addition, we also provide expert support from an independent external provider. This includes updates and analysis, providing information that can support budget setting, and decision making.
Whether it’s gas, electricity, oil or carbon allowances, members can also see an independent assessment of market prices and history. These are available via emailed reports, and members only access to the TEC website and budgeting tools.
Volatility in fuel and power prices and financial pressures make decarbonisation particularly challenging for the Higher and Further Education Sector.
TEC aims to support our members wherever they may be on their carbon reduction journey. Our Carbon Reduction Solutions team provides advice, guidance and support on a range of energy reduction and decarbonisation solutions. We also facilitate discussion and knowledge sharing amongst our members to help disseminate good practice for the benefit of everyone.
