The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) have awarded £650,000 as part of the Ocean Stewardship Fund.
The funding has been awarded to fifteen research projects and fisheries around the world. Each initiative focuses on impacts to threaten species or tackling abandoned fishing gear. The ecological data that will be gathered from each initiative will greatly improve the understanding of some of the most vulnerable habitats and species in the world.
The grants have been awarded to organisations such as WWF South Africa, BirdLife South Africa, Zoological Society of London along with fisheries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the US.
