World Water Day 2026: Supporting members to drive down water consumption

To mark World Water Day 2026, we are highlighting some useful tools to help members to reduce water consumption.

World Water Day, held on 22nd March every year since 1993, is an annual United Nations day, focusing on the importance of fresh water.

TEC’s water, wastewater and ancillary services framework, delivered in partnership with Wave, covers all aspects of water supply and management.  A third of members signed up to the water framework have Automatic Meter Readers (AMR) which help support the monitoring and measurement of water usage. Along with AMR there are various other ancillary services available such as leak detection, water contingency planning and Legionella risk assessments.

Wave has some useful resources on their website. Members can even request bespoke posters to raise awareness across their institution.

Ollie Arthurs, water specialist at TEC, said: “We work on the premise that if you can’t monitor your water usage, you can’t manage it. There are many tools which enable institutions to monitor water use, with implementing Automatic Meter Readers being the first step organisations often take in their water management journey.

If you would like to find out more about ancillary services and resources available under the framework then please get in touch with your Member Services Advisor.
