Bureau Update
We’re excited to invite Members to take part in a pilot trial for our new Energy Bureau Services, available through the Optii portal. This trial will commence in early May 2025 and offers a great opportunity to explore and develop how TEC can help Members to streamline their energy management and improve efficiency.
If you’re interested in participating or would like to learn more, please get in touch with our team – bureau@tec.ac.uk

Energy & Carbon Reduction Update
Lighting Discussion Most members are transitioning from fluorescents to LEDs with mixed success. Lighting projects involve various stages, from design to commissioning, with both challenges and opportunities. We would like to host a discussion and it would be really helpful to hear from members about successful (or not-so-successful) projects. If you’d like to share your experience, maybe with a slide or two, please email john.brenton@tec.ac.uk with the subject “Lighting Discussion.”
Is your institution interested in using Biomethane? We are assessing interest in using biomethane as a heating fuel and exploring a potential Gas Purchase Agreement (GPA). Biomethane is a renewable gas, compatible with existing boilers, reducing emissions and enhancing energy security. However, it is costlier than natural gas and has limited availability.
TEC members could integrate biomethane into their decarbonisation plans, particularly for industrial sites, hybrid heating systems, and heat networks transitioning to heat pumps. Your responses will help test market demand, with updates to follow. The first four questions are the most important if you’re short on time.
Please follow this link for more information. Is your institution interested in using Biomethane?
