DSR could cut energy security costs

In its Keeping the Lights On report, issued on Monday 10 October, the organisation said the saving would have been achieved if the Demand Side Balancing Reserve measure had been able to fulfil National Grid’s whole request for an additional 500MW of capacity. It said that the growth of the DSR sector was currently being hindered by providers’ inability to access wholesale and balancing markets on the same terms as other participants, and the fact that DSR projects could only bid for one-year contracts in the capacity market.
