A report published by Greenspace Scotland details how the ground and water below Scottish parks and green spaces could heat 15% of Scottish houses.
Further to this, these spaces could also provide electricity from hydro and solar schemes along with supporting EV charging schemes.
The report comes as part of the ParkPower programme. The programme is ran with the aim to investigate the potential for hosting green energy infrastructure within Scotland’s green spaces.
Additionally, it reveals which local authorities in Scotland have the most untapped energy potential.
The project has been funded by National Lottery Heritage and Community Funds along with Nesta (via the Rethinking Parks programme).
