University of Brighton: TEC Onboarding

TEC is delighted to have onboarded the University of Brighton to the TEC membership. Following a thorough procurement process, the University decided to join TEC in October 2024. The institution went live with TEC’s Gas Framework in April 2025, followed by the Water Framework in July 2025 and Electricity Framework in October 2025.

During the last 12 months TEC has worked closely with the University to demonstrate the full range of support, insights and benefits delivered through TEC membership. TEC’s procurement strategy has delivered good unit rates, helping the University to reduce its utilities spend.

Jude Harkins, Energy and Carbon Manager at the University of Brighton, said: “The transition to TEC has been a simple and trouble-free process. All members of the TEC team, particularly our main contact Ollie Arthurs, have been incredibly helpful from the offset, providing prompt responses to all queries.

TECs online portal is a valuable resource to support budgeting, keeping us up to date with the current trading position and market conditions. Their regular communications and webinars are always relevant and provide useful information across a range of topics, particularly for higher education providers.

Ollie Arthurs, Member Services Advisor at TEC, said: “We are delighted to welcome the University of Brighton to TEC, joining several other University members along the south coast. It has been a pleasure working with Jude and the University team over the last 12 months or so, helping to ensure the correct data was in place for a smooth onboarding and making them aware of all the tools TEC membership provides. I’m now very much looking forward to supporting the University with their strategic plan on cutting their carbon footprint

The University of Brighton has been part of the city of Brighton & Hove since 1859. Originating as a school of art in the kitchens of the Royal Pavilion, it has grown into a diverse and inclusive institution, with approximately 17,000 students and 2,150 staff across three Brighton campuses.
