After working as a university researcher in industrial safety, John changed career to work in the field of carbon reduction over twenty years ago. Starting in sustainable transport, he moved to a consultancy working on energy efficiency, tackling fuel poverty and community renewables. There he designed some of the UK’s first carbon action plans for local authorities and third-sector organisations. For several years, he worked at the University of Bristol on a variety of projects aimed at reducing the carbon impact of the University, and contributed data and expertise to academic research on carbon reduction and smart grid solutions. He joined TEC in 2023, producing guidance, collecting evidence to support change, and facilitating knowledge sharing to help members on their carbon reduction journey.
