New guides help public sector organisations to decarbonise heat

Two new resources to support the public sector to reduce emissions from heat have been published: the Heat Pumps Guide and the Decarbonising Heritage Buildings Toolkit.

The guides have been developed by the Greater South East Net Zero Hub (GSENZH), which supports institutions to develop and finance local net zero projects. Representatives from the GSENZH presented to TEC members on two recent webinars.

The Decarbonising Heritage Buildings Toolkit provides essential guidance on reducing emissions in historic buildings whilst preserving their culture.

The Heat Pumps Guide offers comprehensive information and advice on the specification, installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of heat pumps.

Both resources include:

  • A checklist of considerations
  • Stakeholder mapping
  • Planning requirements and support
  • Funding options
  • Case studies.

Dr John Brenton, Head of Energy and Carbon Reduction at TEC, said: “Whatever stage of the journey you are at with decarbonising your heritage buildings or installing heat pumps, these guides cover all the information you need to know. These resources also have some helpful advice on engaging stakeholders to ensure your project is a success.”

If you would like further information about either of these initiatives, please get in touch with the GSENZ by emailing info@gsenetzerohub.org.uk
