Are robots the way forward in care?
A £2 million collaboration is underway with the University of Bedfordshire and Middlesex University.
The international project is developing the world’s first culturally aware robots. They plan to utilise these robots in care homes and sheltered accommodations.
The developers believe that the robots could help with the pressure in hospitals and care homes. They will be used for everyday tasks and companionship.
What’s more, the robots will be able to communicate through speech and actions and will even be able to pick up on signals of pain or distress of patients.
Robotics of this kind are becoming more popular. We even had special guest Pepper the robot at our December 2019 Conference.
